J-Term @ Metro: The middle school Playground Design class visits Metro's future home at the Indianola site. Students are learning real-world application as they work with the construction team to develop plans for the outdoor space.

Congratulations to Metro's brand new Science Olympiad team and their advisors (Mr. Cox & Ms. Handy) on their very first competition this week!

7th graders met with space health specialists Dr. Davis and Captain Arias (ret.) of Star Harbor to learn about the needs of astronauts as part of research for an interdisciplinary project designing ways to make living on the Starlab Space Station more comfortable.

Mrs. Hanlon's Advisory is serving a local foundation called "Little Baby Blessings" by putting together care packages. Students are organizing and packaging diapers, wipes, clothing and treats that will distributed at an event this Saturday.

High School Growth Early College program students present product development projects to 6th grade science students for feedback. The projects involved proposals for new Marvel characters.

During a field trip to Ohio State's Controlled Environment Agriculture Research Center, 6th grade students learned about new cutting-edge technology used for indoor food production. Students are working on solving the problem of growing food for the world’s increasing population in their science class.

Geometry students collaborated with peers in the Design Early College program on an interdisciplinary lesson to build trusses. Geometry groups served as design engineers and Design students served as structural engineers, making modifications before 3D printing each truss. Ms. Altstaetter's Investigation Into Literature classes conducted a deep study of characters and examined character traits. Students then worked in book groups to create characters and shared evidence to support their thinking.

College Visit Day is an annual opportunity for Metro students to see a variety of campuses first hand as they plan for the future. Campus tours include presentations, a chance to see college dorms and eat in the cafeterias. Advisory groups traveled to 10 campuses this year.

Metro H.S. students are on their way to 10 different colleges & universities throughout Ohio and Northern Kentucky for our annual College Visit Day. We hope to help students expand their vision for the future!

Students in Ms. Geygan's 7th grade science classes conduct experiments studying how rolling, sliding and static friction act on them and how different fluids act against the force of gravity on a penny.
