Metro brought STEM learning to life at this weekend's COSI Science Festival! Children of all ages engaged in a balloon rocket challenge to test their critical thinking and design skills. Critical Thinkers: Third grade students are exploring solid, liquids and gasses in the Imaginarium! They combined the solid of sodium bicarbonate and the liquid white vinegar then used a balloon to capture the carbon dioxide gas that results from the chemical reaction!
Who says learning can't be hilariously fun?! Friday afternoon's PBL time at Metro Elementary included a Derby Race with staff in inflatable costumes (thanks for being such great sports!) Ask your student to tell you more!
Real World Learning: Agriscience students have been growing lettuce hydroponically the last 6 weeks. They began with seeds, transplanted them into the system, then monitored nutrients and pH . Today, they harvested their crops, made dressing and enjoyed the fruit of their labor!

Engaged Learning: Fourth graders use critical thinking and collaboration to complete a paper LED CIRCUIT. Students are exploring energy basics while working with snap circuits and learning about voltage, renewable energy and how we transform energy to meet our needs!
Kindergarten students prepared for their boat building lessons by learning some Ohio History - how the Ohio valley area tribes Shawnee, Wyandot, Miami, Ottawa and more used canoes to move people and things. Our innovators then went to work making prototypes!
