Ms. Stephen's 1st graders had a parent guest reader and Principal Lint read to Ms. Pruden's 5th graders as an early kick-start to Right to Read Week!


A team of Metro 9th graders was selected from among 60,000 students in Ohio to participate in the OSLN #STEMmovesOhio Design Challenge State Showcase at Battelle. Teams were tasked with developing a system or product to address the future of electric vehicles, drones and advanced air transportation systems in our state.

Real World Experiences: A group of 30 Metro H.S. students participated in the Internship Fair at the Main Branch of the Columbus Library, where 50+ organizations shared information on internships, work-study programs, apprenticeships, part time jobs, and career camps. Students had a chance to take a professional headshot photo!



Metro 8th grade Science students discover that STEM learning can be "sweet" as they use candy to create DNA strands.



Serving the Community: Elementary students spent the week writing notes of encouragement, decorating bags and organizing supplies to prepare lunches for those facing food insecurity. Thanks to the parent volunteers who helped prepare sandwiches and the students for their collaboration!



Metro welcomed Ohio State Senators William DeMora and Andrew Brenner for conversations with Government classes, led by teachers Pat Frase and Alex Talib. Students asked well-researched questions of the Senators, who modeled respectful dialogue, clarity in their positions, and true bipartisan decorum. It was a powerful example of civic engagement and the real-world learning that defines Metro. Hands-On Discovery: Kindergarten scientists explore how the moon doesn’t glow on its own but shines because the sun illuminates it. They used models and movement to see how different positions create the changing moon phases we observe in the sky.

Elementary students enjoyed a "Positive Winter Party," their reward for earning over 3,000 house points for positive behavior. There were three movie and popcorn celebrations set up by grade level.
