Message from the Superintendent

Dear Metro Community,

As an educational institution, we are always seeking the “teachable “moments in every situation, though they are sometimes hard to find.  The recent death of George Floyd, Amy Cooper’s threat, and the previous killings of other unarmed black men, women, and children continue to unveil the inequitable practices of some law enforcement officers and the deeply-rooted practices of systematic racism.

As a black woman, a wife to a black man and a mother of three black sons, it angers me to see this type of treatment towards black people.  These injustices are not new, but now we see diverse communities around the globe mobilizing, uniting to make their voices heard and demanding change. A new sense of urgency has been ignited for reform to occur.
