Growth Students at Bolton Airfield

Metro's Growth Pathway students visited Bolton Airfield to learn about Columbus State Community College's Aviation Maintenance Technology Program. Accompanied by pathway instructor Casey Hammond, students toured the Southwest Center at Bolton Field (SW), a facility that has trained aviation professionals since 1976.

During the visit, students learned about Columbus State's Airframe and Powerplant Certificate and Associate Degree of Applied Science programs, which prepare individuals for in-demand careers in aviation maintenance. The program provides hands-on technical training that leads to certification as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 65.

For decades, Aviation Maintenance Technician training has served as a gateway to careers in aircraft maintenance and related industries. Columbus State's program continues that tradition, offering students the opportunity to work directly with modern aircraft and boasting an impressive 92% job placement rate.

This experience is another example of how Metro's pathway programs connect students to real-world learning and future career opportunities.
