TeamMetro : PTSO
The TeamMetro PTSO Mission
The goal of TeamMetro PTSO is to (1) enrich and support the student educational experience at the Metro Schools; 2) facilitate communication between Metro parents and Metro faculty and administrators and thus support parent understanding of Metro practices and enhance student performance; (3) build community among students and parents; and (4) raise money to financially support clubs and other enrichment opportunities for students.
TeamMetro PTSO and Parents
“Parents always play a key role in the education of their children. But at Metro, where student educational advancement is largely self-directed and self-motivated, the guiding role played by parents is particularly important.
The TeamMetro PTSO (Parent, Teacher, Student Organization) has a multitude of roles to play.
Foremost, it serves as a communication bridge between school administrators, teachers and parents. The PTSO provides parents with a forum to share concerns and ideas with others in the Metro community. Cumulatively, PTSO volunteers have years of experience at the school, and their knowledge and advice can be tapped by the parents of both new students and continuing students. (read more)”
Meetings and Important Dates
PTSO meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Metro HS. Meetings are preceded by a brief social get-together at 6:15pm, and meetings start promptly at 6:30pm.
All events are subject to change. Please check your email and weekly updates for confirmation of events.
- 9/1 – Metro PTSO Family Picnic
- 9/13 – First General PTSO Meeting: Election of Officers; identify areas of concern
- 10/11 – PTSO Meeting
- 11/8 – PTSO Meeting
*= Unlike General Meetings, where PTSO business is discussed, Open Meetings are held to give parents the opportunity to discuss Metro concern and questions with PTSO officers. The goal of Open Meetings is to enhance parent understanding of the Metro student experience. Bring your questions and be prepared to talk!
