One of our most important partnerships is with Battelle, the largest non-profit research organization in the world. Battelle was one of the founding members of Metro and their commitment to our school is unyielding. While Battelle makes a significant philanthropic gift to Metro every year, their support goes far beyond a financial commitment. Metro collaborates with Battelle on program and curriculum development, and educational research. Battelle provides many internships to Metro students and Battelle scientists often volunteer as guest lecturers and tutors.

In addition, Metro is a main collaborator in Battelle’s 13-state Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) and is the “Hub School” for Central Ohio. Metro and OSLN work to increase support for STEM education and recognition of the importance of STEM education nationally. Because of this role Metro teachers often give talks to visiting groups of educators and mentor instructors on STEM education across the country.

Another founding partner of Metro is Ohio State University (OSU), Ohio’s flagship university and the largest institution of higher education in the country. Like Battelle, OSU contributes significantly to Metro and also holds three seats on our Governing Board. The current Chair of the Board is the OSU Dean of the College of Engineering. As an Early College High School, 85% of Metro students graduate with at least some college credit, including some with an associate’s degree. By far, these credits are earned on the campus of OSU.

In addition, Abbot Labs, American Electric Power, Honda, the Metro PTSO, Ohio Valley Testing, OSU, Battelle, Tech Columbus, and Sci Tech, all partner with the robotics team to and provide either financial support or expertise.

The Education Service Center of Central Ohio (ESCCO) provides core services to Metro, including administering all human resource functions for school employees. The ESCCO Treasurer supervises the school budget and prepares financial forecasts and statements. In addition, Metro faculty members regularly attend workshops and seminars hosted by the ESCCO.
