Metro Update: February 03,2014

Friday is On-site Day for Metro HS Classes

This Friday marks the end of January term. All students are encouraged to remain on task to complete necessary coursework. In order to facilitate end of course testing and presentations, all J-term classes will meet in person on Friday rather than online. Please ensure your student reports for class Friday at Metro. Second semester scheduling will be finalized next Monday based on student performance in J-term coursework.

Pancake Lunch Friday

This Friday is our last pancake lunch of J-term, so bring $3 cash, practice your catching skills and enjoy all the pancakes you can eat straight from the grill (plus sausage and drink). Special thanks to the crew from Chris Cakes for this special treat. What a great way to end a great term!

National School Counseling Week Feb. 3-7

A Note from our School Counselors:

Teachers, administrators, and school counselors all work together for student success. In celebration of National School Counseling Week, we would like to THANK YOU, our Metro families, for the very special role you play in helping all of our students succeed. Together, we can help students reach their full potential!

AMC Math Contest Tomorrow

The AMC Math Contest is tomorrow! High school students are invited to participate in their virtual day class from Metro and report to Mr. Matthews at 11:45 for the contest. AMC competitions are a great addition to student resumes and scores are used by some colleges for scholarship considerations. If you have questions or would like further details, contact Mr. Matthews ( or visit the official MAA site:

Career Day Feb. 10

High School Career Shadowing forms were due Friday. If your student has a shadowing plan but has not returned the form, please do so this week. This is a required activity, so students who have no form on file will be considered absent on Monday and be required to complete an alternate career research assignment. If job shadowing is not possible, students can opt to volunteer at a local non-profit. The Mid-Ohio Food Bank is accepting volunteers for morning and afternoon shifts on Monday, but you must pre-register. Visit their website for details: Middle School students should have completed an interest survey to help pair them with professionals who will be here for a career fair Monday. Be sure to check in with your advisor if you have not completed the survey

MetroThon Countdown

Keep up the good work on MetroThon. We are at 29% of our fundraising goal with less than 3 weeks to go. The dance marathon will feature a professional DJ, food from Raising Caines and Chipotle and lots of fun. Make plans to attend and encourage each other to increase donations. Event t-shirts will arrive next week for those with $25 or more raised.

Design Returns to Dublin

Design students will begin returning to Dublin Coffman High School on a daily basis beginning Feb. 10. The shuttle will depart Metro at 7:20am and return to Metro by 10:45 each day for the rest of the school year.
