Summer Recovery Sessions: Calendar Available Online

Students who will finish the semester with classes NOT at Mastery will have the opportunity to attend recovery course sessions this June. The calendar for recovery courses is now available on our website. Classes are for students currently in 8th-11th grades.

Eighth graders not at mastery in reading, science or math classes by end of semester will need to attend the three-day summer remediation for the course not at Mastery. Students in 6th or 7th grade will NOT have summer remediation UNLESS they are enrolled in a high school credit bearing course (IED, Algebra I, Algebra II or Geometry). Work completed during the June remediation days will count toward the student’s final grade.

If your student will need remediation and you have questions regarding a particular class, feel free to contact the instructor for requirements and expectations.

CCS Transportation Applications Due

Students who do not submit an applicaton may not have access to district provided transportation options.

City Leaders Academy for MS Students

The City Leaders Academy was launched by Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman in 2012 to introduce middle school students to some of the people and places that make Columbus a great place to live. The Academy begins with a weeklong camp in August and continues from September through May on the third Saturday of each month. The program is designed to encourage middle school youth to become model citizens and eventually become leaders. To qualify, students must be rising 6th/7th/8th graders, reside in Columbus, maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete an application including an essay on leadership. Parents must complete all necessary paperwork and attend a mandatory orientation. Participation is free; deadline to apply is June 20. For more information, contact Cece Harris at 614-645-1264 or cityleaders@columbus.gov
