PTSO & Festival of Friends Update
The next meeting of the PTSO will be May 13 at 6:30pm. All interested parents, staff members and students are welcome to attend. The PTSO is accepting nominations for the positions of vice president and secretary. If you are interested or would like more information, contact them at email@example.com
Special thanks to all who helped make this year’s Festival of Friends a success. Over $6,000 was raised to support student activities at Metro. We are very grateful for the work of this year’s committee and to all who came out to enjoy the fun. Please contact us if you would like to help with the planning of next year’s event.
OAA Testing This Week
Middle school students will be taking the Ohio Achievement Assessments this week. The OAA is a state-wide test for 6th-8th graders. Students should be on time each morning so that testing can begin as schedule. All middle school grades will have a reading test Wednesday, math testThursday and 8th graders will take a science test Friday.
The high school class schedule will not be affected by the OAA. ROX Service Project
The ROX girls club is preparing care packages for Faith Mission’s Women’s Shelter. Your donations of new personal care products would be greatly appreciated; they can be dropped off in Ms. Mechling’s office all this week. Care packages will be prepared for delivery May 1.
Suggested items include backpacks/drawstring bags,
hand/body lotion, body wash/soap, Chapstick, deodorant, nail clippers, towels, and blankets.

Kroger Community Rewards Benefit Metro
If you shop at Kroger, you can help Metro by registering your Plus Card for their Community Rewards Program. Once enrolled, Kroger will make a donation to Metro based on your purchases (your fuel rewards and other discounts will not be affected).
To register, visit krogercommunityrewards.com and follow these instructions:
Click on “Sign in or create an account to enroll.”
Click on “View reward details” and then “Edit.”
Enter NPO #69390 or Metro PTSO/PAST Foundation, “Confirm”, then “Enroll.” Community Rewards must be updated each April.
Spring Design Challenge Schedule
The high school class schedule will be amended this week to allow for design challenge work time Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Preliminary presentations are scheduled for Thursday; final presentations will be May 2.
STEM Research Study (High School)
Metro is participating in a research study of STEM schools being conducted by the University of Chicago through the National Science Foundation. The survey will be taken during the week of May 5; all responses will be kept anonymous. The attached letter includes additional details. If you do not want your student to participate, you may opt out by completing and submitting the attached form this week.
